Livingstone Daisy is also known as Ice Plant. Livingstone Daisy is a unique plant that stands out because of the shimmering, translucent bladder cells on its leaves and stems, giving it the appearance of being covered in ice crystals. It originates from Southwest Africa, Namibia, and the Cape region. This easy-to-grow species thrives in both dry and moist, well-drained soils and is also ideal for rock gardens and containers. The edible leaves and stems have a fresh, slightly salty flavour and are delicious in salads or as a substitute for spinach. The flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects and only open in sunny weather. Livingstone Daisy flowers from June till September.
