Runner Bean Lady Di is an organically grown, very deliciously tender, almost stringless runner bean variety. This plant becomes very large in size and it needs a very sturdy support. The plant flowers with very beautiful and attractive red flowers. The seeds are black or red. The very deliciously flavoured, almost stringless, long, bright green pods can get up to 30 cm in size. Pick the pods when they're young because then they're nice and tender. Lady Di produces a prolific amount of pods and needs to be picked regurlarly to keep the production going. Lady Di is resistant against diseases. Use Lady Di in soups, stews, stir-frires, shortly cooked in salads, in mashed potato stews, as cooked vegetable and in all other dishes with beans.

Sow indoors in april for an early crop. Sow in individual pots 3-4 cm deep and cover the seeds with sowing soil. This variety is a dark germinator. Keep moist and warm. Transplant them outdoors in may (avoid frosts) to 80 cm apart. Protect the seedlings againts snales, slugs and other pests.
Sow outdoors from half may on (avoid frosts) on a sunny, sheltered spot in rich well drained soil. Cover the seeds with some fine sowing soil. Beans hate cold soil. Provide them with support. Give extra fertilizer when the plants starts to flower. Harvest the beans when they're about 50 cm long. Keep picking to encourage growth.
