Mizuna Red Frills is a new, organically grown, distinct variant of the common mizuna. This variety has frayed dark red - red-brown leaves with a milder flavour than arugula. The thin, dark red - red-brown stems are also very flavourful and can be eaten as a salad when young.  You can harvest several weeks from 1 sowing and after cutting, the leaves grow back. This easy-to-grow plant can withstand cold very well. The young leaves can be harvested after 21 days. The full-grown leaves can be harvested after 35 days. This mizuna can also be grown in pots.

Mizuna is a vegetable still relatively unknown in the Netherlands. It's a leafy vegetable originally from East Asia (Japan). It's related to cabbage such as : cauliflower, kale, broccoli and Brussels sprouts. It's a type of cabbage that doesn't form heads. The leaves are long, slender and very serrated. This variety has dark red - red-brown leaves. This delicious-tasting leafy vegetable has a subtle, spicy, mustard-like flavour. It's also called Mitzuna, Kyona and Japanese mustard.  Mizuna is easy to grow and maintain. It can be used as an exotic replacement for turnip greens in dishes. Mizuna is very healthy and especially has the following health benefits: it's good for the eyes, for blood clotting, the immune system and for maintaining strong bones.

Mizuna is a very healthy vegetable, it contains the following vitamins, among others: A, B1, B2, B6, B11, C, E and K. And the minerals: calcium, phosphorus, iron, iodine, potassium, copper, manganese, magnesium, sodium, selenium and zinc . It's also high in fibre, antioxidants, protein and carbohydrates. Mizuna is widely used in salads, soups, on pizzas, in pasta dishes and in wok dishes, stews, stews and in oriental dishes. Add mizuna at the last minute as long cooking leads to loss of flavour and crispiness.  Mizuna can be kept in its packaging in the fridge for several days (3 - 4). Mizuna is very tasty in combination with: chicken, lamb, pork, minced meat, beef, lamb, chilli, olive oil, milk, butter, paprika, apple, gherkin, thyme, butter, cheese, capers, lemon, mustard, noodles, pasta, rice, couscous, salmon, tuna, dill, almonds, tomato puree, Italian herbs and mozzarella.
