Product Description

Aubergine Listada de Gandia is an organically grown variety of aubergine. It is native to Spain. As the name suggests, it comes from Gandia in the province of Valencia. The aubergines can grow up to 11 - 15 cm long. The cream-coloured fruits have irregular lavender to purple stripes and white delicious-tasting flesh. The small-growing plants produce a large quantity of these delicious fruits. The fruits have a thin skin with beautiful markings. The soft, delicious-tasting and firm flesh is light cream-coloured. This variety is best grown in a greenhouse or under a canopy. Medium-early variety that can be harvested after about 90 - 95 days. Don't let the fruits grow too long. As this doesn't enhance the flavour.

Aubergine is a very versatile and healthy vegetable. Aubergine contains, among other things: vitamins B1, B2, B6, B11 and C. And the minerals: sodium, potassium, selenium, calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium and zinc. And lots of dietary fibre, low in fat and carbohydrates and gluten. You can boil, fry, roast, cook in the oven, stir-fry, barbecue, grill, steam, deep-fry and stuff with, for example, minced meat or rice. Aubergine can also be used to make a delicious ratatouille, soup or mixed vegetable dish. Aubergine is very tasty in combination with: olive oil, cheese, onions, parsley, basil, potatoes, oregano, beef, lamb, chicken, minced beef, eggs, goat's cheese, red pepper, pork, coconut, garlic, cayenne pepper, pasta and vegetables such as peppers, lettuce, courgettes, tomatoes, peas and leeks.
