Potatoes are usually grown from seed potatoes, but they can also be grown from true botanical seeds. Potato seeds are the botanical seeds of the potato plant, from which full-grown plants develop that produce potato tubers underground. Growing potatoes from seed takes a little longer than growing them from seed potatoes, and depending on the variety, the potatoes can differ in shape, colour, size, flavour and culinary use. The tubers can be boiled, fried, roasted, baked, steamed or deep-fried and are suitable for dishes such as mashed potatoes, salads, casseroles, French fries and crisps. After sowing indoors, the young plants can be transplanted into the vegetable garden, raised beds or large pots. With potato seeds, you grow potatoes literally from the very beginning: from a tiny seed into a plant that produces a harvest of tubers.
