Outdoor sowing can start from march till august on a prepared seedbed. Cover the seeds lightly with some soil, because lettuce is a light germinator. Keep moist and weed free. Transplant the seedlings after 3 - 4 weeks. Keep them 20 - 30 cm apart, to leave room for the heads. Sow small amounts with regular intervals to provide a continuous harvest. Protect the seedlings and plants from snails, slugs and other pests.
