Sowing Organic Coriander
When you buy Organic Coriander seeds, 123zaden always provides sowing instructions. At the beginning of the year you can sow the seeds indoors and from May onwards the Organic Coriander seeds can also be sown outdoors. You don't even need a large garden. Square vegetable garden boxes, for example, are also suitable for Organic Coriander sowing. After sowing the Organic Coriander seeds, it takes an average of 14 to 21 days for the seeds to germinate. The annual or biennial plant eventually grows about 60 centimetres tall.
Using Organic Coriander seeds
You can eat both the leaves and seeds of the Organic Coriander plant. The leaf of Organic Coriander has a distinct flavour that not everyone likes. If you are going to harvest the leaves, it is best not to cut off more than a third of the plant. Then the plant can grow again and you can harvest again later. The young and pretty leaves are the tastiest. The older, ferny leaves taste a bit bitter. The stalks can also be finely chopped and used in meals.
When the Organic Coriander plant eventually starts flowering, hardly any fresh leaves are formed. But even then the plant is still useful. The seeds ripen and can be cut off to dry. They look quite similar to peppercorns. These fresh Organic Coriander seeds retain their flavour for a very long time and are even tastier than the seeds you buy in shops. The finely ground Organic Coriander seeds are known as ketoembar.

Sow indoors from February till March in a large flowerpot approx. 10 seeds. Sow approx. 1½ deep and cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Keep moist and warm. Keep the temperature as even as possible and don't let the temperature drop during the nights. Don't put the flowerpots in a window-sill but put them on a light and warm spot. Make sure that the pots have a good drainage.
Sow outdoors from the middle of May, when there's no longer any danger of nightfrosts, on a sunny spot with free draining soil. Sow approx. 1 cm deep and cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Germination takes approx. 14 - 21 days, depending on the temperature and the weather. Coriander has a very tender rootsystem that doesn't tolerate transplanting. Thin the seedlings, when they're large enough to handle, to 25 cm apart and all around. Keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged, because coriander hates wet feed. Put the plants on a sunny plot with some shade in the summer and free draining soil. Harvest the leaves regurlarly.
