Minipop is a miniature sweet corn variety that produces a prolific amount of little, tender, very sweet cobs. It is very well suited for the growing in pots, containers and in small gardens or square vegetable gardens. About 5-6 cobs grow on each plant. Harvest the cobs when they're about 10 cm in lenght and the silk tassels are just showing. Needs support. Height: 150 - 180 cm.

Outdoor sowing: may
Germination temp.: 10 - 20°C
Sowing depth.: 2½ cm
Germination: 10 - 14 days
Transplant outdoors: may
Plant distance: 45 cm
Plant position: sunny and sheltered
Days till harvest: 85 - 100
Sow indoors in early spring for an early harvest. Sow 1 seed in individual pots, 2½ cm deep at 10 °C, a higher temperature ensures a better germination. Transplant the seedlings, when large enough to handle, late may outdoors (avoid frosts). Harden the seedlings in the middle of may to the outside conditions.
Sow, late may (avoid frosts), outdoors in a prepared seed bed. Sow in rows 30 cm apart and a row distance of 30 cm. Sow in blocks to ensure good polination.
Keep moist and don't let the soil dry out especially during hot spells. Feed the soil before sowing with some slow release fertilizer. Each sweet corn plant produces about 1 - 2 cobs. The ripeness of the cobs can be tested as soon as the tassels colour chocolate brown. Ripe maize kernels excrete a white liquid when pinched. When this happens, the cobs are ready to harvest.
